Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 2026
At Emotiva, we take your privacy seriously — especially because you're sharing personal mental health data with us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. If you have any questions, contact us at privacy@emotiva.app.
1. Information We Collect
Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name.
Mood entries: We store the mood data you log — mood value, label, timestamp, and any optional notes you write.
Goals: We store the goals you create and your daily completion status.
Reminders: Reminder times and labels are stored locally on your device and are not sent to our servers.
Usage data: We may collect basic anonymised usage analytics (e.g. app crashes, feature usage counts) to improve the product. This data cannot be linked back to you.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to provide and improve the Emotiva service:
- To display your mood history, streaks, and insights
- To authenticate you and secure your account
- To send notifications you have opted into
- To improve app features and fix bugs (using anonymised analytics)
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your data to any third party.
3. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a trusted cloud database provider with PostgreSQL. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest using AES-256 encryption.
Row-level security (RLS) is enforced on all database tables, meaning you can only ever access your own data — not other users' data.
Supabase's infrastructure is hosted on AWS and is SOC 2 Type II compliant. You can read more at supabase.com/security.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to third parties.
We may share anonymised, aggregated data (e.g. "X% of users log mood in the morning") for research or improvement purposes. This data cannot identify you.
We may disclose data if required by law (e.g. a valid court order), but we will notify you if legally permitted to do so.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data — all your mood entries are visible in the app
- Delete your account and all associated data — available in the app under Settings
- Export your data — data export is planned for a future release
- Opt out of notifications at any time via app or device settings
For any privacy requests, contact privacy@emotiva.app.
6. Children's Privacy
Emotiva is intended for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.
7. Cookies & Tracking
The Emotiva mobile app does not use cookies. This website may use essential cookies for functionality only. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you in the app or via email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
